Deep and Surface approach

DEEP APPROACH

SURFACE APPROACH

The intention of the student here is ‘to understand’

The intention of the student here is only ‘to complete the task’ e.g. complete an assignment.

The focus is placed on what is ‘signified’ or meant.

The focus here is only on the ‘signs’ e.g. what does the lecturer want me to do for my assignment, what is she ‘looking for’?

The student wants and tries to relate previous knowledge to new knowledge.

The student tends to focus on unrelated parts

of the task, does not try to ‘relate’ knowledge.

The student tries to relate knowledge (what they have learnt) from different modules.

The student memorises information for assessment only.

The student relates theoretical ideas to everyday experiences, including work and professional practice experiences.

The student accepts facts and concepts unquestioningly and unreflectively

The student relates and distinguishes between evidence and argument.

The student fails to distinguish principles from examples.

Students organise and structure their learning ‘content’ into a coherent whole. i.e. they try to relate all their learning, from a variety of contexts.

Students treat any learning task given e.g. an assignment, as an external imposition.

There is an internal emphasis in a student’s learning. The student is interested in what he/she is learning, for their own sake.

There is an external emphasis. The student is only interested in what happens externally; e.g. have they ‘done enough’ to pass their assignment?

For the mainly reflection is both because it is only a refresh memory or update some concepts.
Interesting lectures will be taken as deep and the other as surface but because it is already done it.... Otherwise we would get bored all the time....

My Literature Review

Our days seems to be a easier life decade, most of everything is very easy to get it, and a hard life decade at same time. With a job well paid it is possible to get some few goods nowadays, without a job people are called as a loser(students may not be included, because of advantages and disadvantages of ones and others). That´s why is said the time is changed, from a 50 years back.

Nowadays there are a lot of distraction, parties, technologies such as games, computer devices, mobiles phones, more channels...; even looking in a way those good are very essential in some part but as in life there is negative and positive points for everything people has in the world.
More than 50 years ago to get to know the news, it was only by radio and television, to make a call or to arrange a dinner or appointment it was and it is possible by landlines phones, but since the new generation start to develop the quality of our lives with better cars, television with High Definition, better radios, new kind of instruments, better music songs, clothes, even styles - hair, tattoos, watches...; a mobile phone was emerges, at beginning and until now people still like this new toy, it is exciting to get a Nokia with 5.o mega pixels of camera in it, the same happen with some other brands, Sony Ericson's, Apple, Samsung, now even more it is possible to have a windows on our mobile with windows mobile.
Those new toys have a negative and positive effects on our society. It is good for some parents to know where those pumpkins are and if there is any security from them to relax, it is good also if there is any problem at all to call any emergency, when a friend or a girlfriend/boyfriend can contact where ever it is, good features such as camera with good quality picture, video recorder, radio, internet and games, for the positive effect.
For negative effects stuck on your phone for long hours - addition, sometimes letting the speak by the side, losing the communication skills where everything must be by the phone text, change the own health system, teens would spend everything on the phones, obsessive calling and texting, disrespectful for the society and distraction.
There are many cases of teens crashing car's because of mobile phones distraction, which disrespect the societal norms.
Mobiles were made to make our life easier, where it turn to be a very important tool of our daily life system(to be connected to friend and family members - 24 hours, and business opportunities) but in same time turn to be a easy path to lose the concentration not just for adolescent but for adults as well as brain cancer, epileptic seizures or sleep disorder at minimal stage.
